Springtime Visitors

Bird in a Fern - Spring 2011
I recently found this little fella hanging around the fern outside my dining room window. It seems that he and another little bird have decided to make their springtime home there. They’ve been busy all day gathering small twigs and things to make their nest. I haven’t been able to capture a picture of the female yet, but I’m sure I’ll shoot one of her sooner or later.

I’m thinking these new springtime visitors are going to make watering that fern difficult. Maybe my watering won’t scare them away since my kids like the birds and think they are really pretty. My oldest son is even anticipating seeing some baby birds soon. It would be tragic (for the kids and birds) if I were to drown our new feathery friends.  I’m not sure what species of bird this is, but I agree that it is a rather pretty bird compared to most of the other birds I see here along the Alabama coast. If anyone knows about this particular species please share by commenting below.
